The Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Victims of Torture (TRC) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit human organization. TRC also aims to promote Human Rights in Palestine by researching and disseminating information regarding the plight of the torture victims. Through its highly expert and professional advocacy and research team, TRC has become a forerunner for the promotion and dissemination of information regarding human rights throughout the West Bank and Gaza.

Annual 2010 report
The Treatment & Rehabilitation Program, with its various components, represents the major developmental programme operated by TRC. It aims not only to eliminate torture consequences and symptoms of trauma from victims of torture
and their families, but it aims at restoring the victim’s normal lives also, which constitute the first kind of the 5 kind of reparations for victims of torture provided in the UN International Convention against Torture “CAT”. Component
activities under this program include the psychotherapy treatment and consultation sessions “including individual, group and family therapy sessions”, the psychiatric assistance, the vocational rehabilitation for ex-detainees and the annual summer camp for children victims of torture. The working team under this program consists mainly of therapists, social workers and psychologists, and psychiatrists.
General Public Attitudes and Perceptions of Mental Health in the Palestinian Community: Services and Needs
The study was conducted in March 2009 to probe the extent of detrimental psychological effects that Palestinians sustained due to the traumatic events that they experienced. The study also seeks to uncover the impact of social stigma and culture on acceptance towards mental health services, as well as attitudes towards variables including treatment, treatment methods for psychiatric patients and public assessment of these services.
